About Brett

Brett McGarry is a partner at Lyttle McGarry Del Greco LLP, practicing criminal and regulatory defence since 2008. He has defended clients against the full range of criminal charges, including homicide, attempted murder, sexual assault, large-scale drug trafficking, firearms offences, human trafficking, and fraud, and has defended hundreds of impaired driving cases, often through Charter challenges. He has also handled sexual assault defences ranging from professionals charged in the course of employment to historical allegations and youth charges. He attended Dalhousie University's law school, graduating in 2007, then clerked for the judges of the Ottawa Superior Court of Justice on complex criminal trials. He has served as a director of the Criminal Lawyers' Association and a trustee of the County of Carleton Law Association, frequently speaks at conferences for lawyers, expert witnesses, and police, and sits on the Extremely Serious Matters panel for Legal Aid Ontario.
