About Bjorn

Bjorn Harsanyi is a founding partner of Stewart Sharma Harsanyi with over 20 years of experience since graduating from the University of Alberta's Faculty of Law in 1995, where he was on the Dean's List. He worked as a Refugee Protection Officer with the Immigration and Refugee Board and later as a Pre-Removal Risk Assessment Officer with Citizenship and Immigration Canada before moving into private practice. He has appeared before all levels of Alberta courts, has more than 35 reported cases at the Federal Court of Canada, and also practices criminal law where it intersects with immigration matters. He was appointed King's Counsel in 2020 and has spoken at conferences for the Canadian Association of Refugee Lawyers and the Criminal Trial Lawyers Association.
