About Athyna Wolf

Advocacy for health care professionals sits at the centre of Athyna Wolf's work. Athyna is counsel with Gowling WLG in Ottawa, part of the firm's Advocacy Group, and brings a background in professional liability as well as commercial litigation. Away from the health field, Athyna has handled contract and shareholder disputes, fraud cases, employment files and human rights matters.

Athyna earned a JD at the University of Alberta and was called to the Alberta bar in 2015. Articling took place at Bennett Jones, and a clerkship with Justice B.K. O'Ferrall at the Court of Appeal of Alberta in Calgary came before Athyna practised there as an associate. A stretch at a Calgary litigation boutique added trial experience, and Athyna then went back to Bennett Jones, where the work centred on corporate commercial and energy industry disputes, professional liability and employment law, with regular involvement in commercial appeals and help on matters at the Supreme Court of Canada.

That record takes in every level of Alberta's courts and several administrative tribunals, and Athyna has also spent time working in-house for a law enforcement agency.

Outside practice, Athyna has taught legal research and writing at the University of Calgary's Faculty of Law and was a trustee of the Canadian Society for Petroleum Geoscientists Foundation from 2018 to 2021.
