About Ashley Faust

Ashley Faust defends insurance claims at McCague Borlack LLP in Toronto, where occupiers' liability and professional liability files make up the core of the work. It's litigation that takes the associate into the Ontario Superior Court of Justice and the Court of Appeal, and Faust has also appeared before a range of tribunals.

Called to the Ontario bar in 2007 after earning a law degree at Queen's, Faust carries a second job at the firm alongside a litigation caseload: Director of Student Program and Audit. In that role Faust runs the summer and articling programs from end to end, hiring students, supervising them, building their professional skills and working with the law schools they come from. The firm's mentorship program and its lawyers' continuing professional development also fall under Faust's watch, and a 2026 post on the firm's student blog has Faust joining the student cohort in extracurricular activities, some of them held online.

In April 2020, just after the Superior Court suspended regular civil hearings for the pandemic, Faust published a review of the early urgent motion rulings, sorting 2 found not urgent from 9 the court agreed to hear. Outside work, Ashley's time goes to a young family.
