She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Criminology at Simon Fraser University before attending law school at Thompson Rivers University in Kamloops, and volunteered at Vancouver's Downtown Community Court during her undergraduate studies. During law school she contributed to CanLII's Criminal Law Ebook.
