About Alicia
Alicia McLelland has been a litigator since being called to the bar in 2012, spending her first ten years focused on construction law and personal injury defence before transitioning her practice entirely to family law in 2022, where she is now a trained mediator. Her work centres on high-conflict parenting disputes, including custody, mobility and relocation issues, emergency protection orders, and family violence, drawing on a background in psychology and prior experience as a probation officer. She also assists clients with property division, child and spousal support, and cohabitation and prenuptial agreements, and has appeared at all levels of court in Alberta as well as through mediation and arbitration. McLelland earned her J.D. from the University of Saskatchewan in 2011 and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Alberta in 2007, and was admitted to the Alberta Bar in 2012. She volunteers as counsel at the Women's Centre of Calgary Legal Advice Clinic and mentors with the Law Society of Alberta.
