About Theall Group LLP

Theall Group LLP is a commercial litigation firm working out of the Exchange Tower at 130 King Street West in downtown Toronto. The firm was built on the idea of offering clients the quality and depth of a large firm while keeping the feel of a small one, and it now runs as a fully digital practice. Its five lawyers appear before all levels of the Ontario and federal courts, and up to the Supreme Court of Canada, with concentrations in insurance coverage, product liability, commercial arbitration and class actions.

The insurance coverage practice has a deliberate structure: the founding partners chose not to act for insurers in coverage disputes, so the firm represents only policyholders and their brokers, a decision it says avoids the conflicts that can come from working both sides of the same dispute. Partner Lawrence Theall has been national trial counsel for Hyundai Auto Canada Corp. since 1995 and has led more than 85 trials and hearings to a final decision, and the firm has also acted for other automotive and manufacturing clients, including Toyota and Cessna Aircraft Company. Theall is a co-author of the looseleaf text Product Liability: Canadian Law and Practice.
