About Subodh S. Bharati Barrister & Solicitor

SSB Law Chambers is the Toronto practice of Subodh S. Bharati, a barrister and solicitor with an office on St. Clair Avenue West. The practice concentrates on refugee law, immigration matters including detention reviews, human rights complaints before the Ontario Human Rights Tribunal, and a select number of civil litigation files each year. Bharati graduated from Osgoode Hall Law School in 2007 and was called to the Ontario bar in 2008, after earning an Honours B.A. in philosophy and mathematics from the University of Western Ontario and an M.Sc. in mathematics from King's College, University of London.

Before opening the practice, Bharati worked as an associate at the civil litigation firm Paul Lee & Associates and, during articles, researched the Temporary Foreign Worker Program for the Alberta Civil Liberties Research Center. The practice appears regularly before all divisions of the Immigration and Refugee Board, the Federal Court of Canada, the Ontario Human Rights Tribunal, and the Superior Court of Ontario, and has appeared before the Supreme Court of Canada. Bharati also serves as Immigration Review Counsel with the Community and Legal Aid Services Programme (CLASP) at Osgoode Hall Law School and sees clients at the St. Clair Avenue office on Tuesdays and Fridays. The firm has also brought a proposed class action addressing the placement of immigration detainees in provincial prisons instead of dedicated immigration holding centres.
