Early litigation roles included Cassels Mitchell Somers Dutton & Winkler and Smiley, Allingham, MacFarland & Stortini, where Wise appeared as junior counsel in the Ontario High Court of Justice. From 1987 to 2001, Wise was Managing Partner of Walker Poole Milligan LLP, a Toronto litigation firm handling commercial, municipal, and insurance litigation with regular appearances before the Court of Appeal for Ontario.
