Garfin Zeidenberg LLP is a full-service law firm in Toronto's North York area, founded in 1976 by Michael Garfin and Martin Zeidenberg. Garfin studied business administration at York University's Schulich School of Business before earning a law degree from the University of Windsor. Zeidenberg studied political science at York University and earned a law degree from the University of Western Ontario in 1974. Today the firm has about a dozen lawyers who practise civil litigation, corporate and commercial law, family and divorce law, real estate, wills and estate planning, employment law, trademarks and copyright, and condominium law.
A family lawyer at the firm helped develop the "get" amendments to Canada's Divorce Act and Ontario's Family Law Act, which address religious barriers to divorce for Jewish and Iranian spouses, and presented the Canadian approach to Israeli rabbinical courts and Justice Ministry officials. The firm's real estate group includes a lawyer who practises in Urdu and Punjabi as well as English and who has belonged to the Punjab Bar Council since 1999, in addition to the Law Society of Ontario.
