Elia Associates Professional Corporation is a small Toronto based firm that concentrates on condominium law for corporations across Ontario. Richard Elia opened the practice in 2001, building it around the post development side of condominium work, the legal issues that begin once a building is finished and its board takes over. The firm has grown to seven lawyers, working from a main office on Steeles Avenue West in Toronto with additional offices in Ottawa, Barrie, and Oakville, plus a toll free line for the rest of Ontario.
Condominium law remains the core of the practice. The team interprets and applies the Condominium Act, 1998, collects common expense arrears, advises on Tarion warranty and construction deficiency claims, and works through mediation, arbitration, or civil litigation when disputes arise between boards, owners, and property managers. Around that core, the firm also handles corporate and commercial matters, real estate closings for condominium and freehold properties, employment issues, and wills, powers of attorney, and trusts, including corporate wills and Henson trusts.
Richard Elia holds a Master of Laws in dispute resolution from Osgoode Hall and, as a junior lawyer, helped draft Bill 38, which became the Condominium Act, 1998. Patricia Elia, the firm's other name partner, has practised condominium and corporate law for close to three decades and served as a condominium director for approximately 20 years, across both a multi-storey building and a townhouse complex.

By appointmentElia Associates works out of four Ontario offices rather than one storefront, a layout shaped by a province-wide condominium practice more than by any single neighbourhood. The main office is on Steeles Avenue West in Toronto, with further offices in Ottawa, Barrie, and Oakville, and a toll free line for the rest of the province. The firm's lawyers are also active in several regional chapters of the Canadian Condominium Institute: Richard Elia currently leads the Golden Horseshoe Chapter, based in the Burlington area near the firm's Oakville office, while Patricia Elia has served as a director and past President of the Huronia Chapter, based in Barrie itself.
