BAX Securities Law is a small Toronto firm focused on corporate securities and capital markets work. Barbara Hendrickson founded it in 2012, after roughly twenty years in securities and corporate law that included a period as senior legal counsel at the Ontario Securities Commission plus time at an international law firm and a national law firm. Hendrickson holds a law degree from the University of Calgary, from its third graduating class, along with a Master of Laws in tax from Osgoode Hall Law School and a further Master of Laws from the University of Toronto. Hendrickson was called to the bar in Ontario in 1994 and in British Columbia in 2010.
The firm's practice covers capital markets, securities regulation, investment funds, and corporate finance, with a crypto assets and digital token practice built up since 2017 and newer work in artificial intelligence and whistleblower matters. Rather than billing purely by the hour, the firm says it prices most work on a value driven, firm-estimate basis. Hendrickson also founded the Toronto Business Lawyers Association in 2016, a networking group for lawyers at small and mid-sized Greater Toronto Area firms that meet regularly and reached its tenth year in 2026.
