Carroll Heyd Chown LLP, known as CHC Barristers, is a litigation firm established in Barrie in 1973 by Kevin Carroll, Q.C., LSM. The firm practices exclusively in civil litigation, representing insurers, businesses, and individuals before all levels of court and administrative tribunals in Ontario. The firm's name reflects two later additions to the partnership. Richard Heyd joined in 1985 and spent thirty years practicing insurance litigation before retiring in 2015. Roger Chown joined in 1994 and became a partner in 2000, the point at which the firm took its current name. Chown left the partnership on October 2, 2020, when appointed to the Superior Court of Justice of Ontario.

The firm today is led by partners Edward Chadderton, David Thompson, and Jeff Beleskey, whose work spans construction, employment, family and estate, insurance, and commercial litigation, as well as other civil matters such as real estate, condominium, and agricultural litigation. Kevin Carroll remains connected to the firm as counsel, working as an arbitrator and fire loss umpire under the Insurance Act after retiring from the partnership in 2013. Among the associates, Alex Vigneault is bilingual in French and English, and Matthew Stubbs earned a law degree at Aberystwyth University in Wales before joining the firm.
