About Boswell Employment Law

Boswell Employment Law is a small employer-side workplace law firm based in Barrie, Ontario. It represents organizations only, not individual employees, working on workers' compensation, employment and labour law, human rights, workplace investigations, occupational health and safety, and related regulatory matters. Founding partner Rob Boswell has represented employers in workers' compensation law for 30 years, starting as in-house counsel at General Motors of Canada and then working at a large, specialized employment law firm in Toronto before becoming self-employed in 2003. Rob Boswell has also spent 16 years as external prosecuting counsel to the WSIB.

Partner Tara Ross joined the firm in 2023. Before moving to employer-side work, Ross spent nine years representing workers through a legal aid clinic, an Ontario Ministry of Labour agency, and the Ontario Nurses' Association, a background that spans both sides of the workers' compensation system. The firm also runs training sessions for HR professionals on workplace investigations, terminations, and respectful workplace policies, and it advises employers across sectors including construction, healthcare, manufacturing, municipal government, and emergency services.
