Addelman Baum Gilbert LLP is a criminal defence and child protection law firm based in downtown Ottawa. Four lawyers, Richard Addelman, Douglas Baum, Jason Gilbert, and Joseph Addelman, formed the firm in January 2010 after each had already built an individual criminal law practice. The firm handles the full range of criminal matters, from impaired driving and drug charges to assault, sexual assault, and homicide, along with provincial offences and Highway Traffic Act charges. A second part of the practice represents parents and family members in child protection proceedings brought by a Children's Aid Society or other child welfare agency. Beyond Ottawa, the firm takes cases in Eastern Ontario communities including Brockville, Cornwall, L'Orignal, Perth, Pembroke, Renfrew, and Smiths Falls.

Richard Addelman graduated from the University of Ottawa Faculty of Law in 1969 and went on to help start one of Canada's early practices devoted exclusively to criminal defence. In 1975, Addelman was one of four lawyers who founded the Defence Counsel Association of Ottawa, an organization that has since grown to more than 150 members. Douglas Baum, called to the bar in 1994, later served as the association's president. The firm describes itself as bringing 50 years of experience to criminal, provincial, and regulatory defence work.
