About William W. Fawcett

William W. Fawcett is a civil and commercial litigator at McKenzie Lake Lawyers in London, Ontario. The work runs from business and contract fights to estate, property and tenancy conflicts, and Fawcett's practice areas also take in insurance defence and administrative law.

Law was a second career. For over a decade before it, Fawcett taught at the University of Western Ontario and Fanshawe College, picking up teaching awards along the way, and that time in front of a classroom became the groundwork for standing up in court today. A PhD from Western came in 2011, after years of philosophy research that honed analysis and clear writing. The JD followed in 2018, and brought an award for the highest standing in first year of Western's JD program. After articling at McKenzie Lake in 2018 and 2019, William was called to the Ontario bar in 2019 and came back to the firm.

Fawcett aims to keep the cost of representation in proportion to what's at stake and would rather settle a dispute before it reaches litigation.

Away from the office, William's slowly bringing a nineteenth century Italianate house back to its original state and tending the large gardens around it. Cooking and wine (French and Italian, mostly) are favourite pastimes, along with restoring antique furniture and the odd evening of Scottish country dancing.
