About William

William G. MacDonald is from Sarnia, Ontario and earned a BA from the University of Toronto's St. Michael's College in 1973 and an LLB from Osgoode Hall Law School at York University in 1976. He articled with Goodman & Carr in Toronto and was called to the Ontario Bar on April 14, 1978. He later completed an LLM in International Business Law at Osgoode in 1992. MacDonald worked in private practice and as corporate counsel with Philips Electronics in Toronto before joining Stewart, Mitchell & Macklin in Cobourg in 1989, and opened his own law office in 1994, later assuming the practices of Gordon C. Kelly and Helen J. Charette. His firm, MacDonald, Charette & Associates, merged with SMM Law Professional Corporation in July 2022, where he continues to practise as counsel focusing on business law, estate planning and administration, and real estate.
