About Alan
Alan J. McMackin has practised law since 1978, beginning his litigation career at the Federal Business Development Bank before forming a partnership with Sims Brady. In the late 1980s he opened his own general litigation practice in Whitby, later relocating it to Bowmanville in 2016. He was appointed a Deputy Judge in 2004, a role he continues to hold. Over a 40-year career, Alan conducted more than 100 trials, including an appearance before the Supreme Court of Canada, with experience spanning employment law, real estate and commercial litigation, contract disputes, debt collection, shareholder and partnership disputes, oppression remedy claims, fraud, and estate litigation. He retired from private practice in 2019 after spending his final years mentoring his son Ryan, also a lawyer at the firm.
