About Robert

Robert B. Carew practices exclusively in criminal law as a sole practitioner in Ottawa, in association with his daughter Vanessa Carew since 2015. He earned his Bachelor of Commerce with great distinction from McGill University and his Common Law degree from the University of Ottawa in 1982, and was called to the Bar of Ontario in 1984 and the Bar of Quebec in 1991. He worked at the Ministry of the Attorney General in Ottawa until 1988 and then joined a prominent criminal defence firm before entering exclusive criminal law practice in 1992. Carew has extensive trial experience in the provincial and superior courts of Ontario and Quebec, has appeared in the appellate courts of both provinces, and has argued before the Supreme Court of Canada. He represents adult and young offender clients facing Criminal Code, Highway Traffic Act, and Controlled Drugs and Substances Act charges, and provides services in both English and French.
