About Tyana

Tyana R. Caplan is a partner at Stewart McKelvey's Halifax office, working with clients on professional liability, disciplinary, and regulatory matters, medical malpractice defence, and insurance claims and coverage disputes. Her clients include physicians and surgeons, insurers, colleges and universities, and regulators of professions, including healthcare professionals regulated under Nova Scotia's Regulated Health Professions Act. She has helped clients register licences in complex cases, obtain dismissals of disciplinary complaints, and work with criminal defence counsel to maintain licensure. Tyana earned her LLB from Dalhousie University in 2002 and an AB, magna cum laude, from Harvard College in 1991. She was called to the Nova Scotia bar in 2003 and is active with the Nova Scotia Medical-Legal Society and the Canadian Bar Association's Women's Forum.
