About Tom

Tom Friedland is a partner in the Litigation and Dispute Resolution Group at Goodmans. His practice covers corporate and commercial disputes, securities matters, environmental law, and municipal law. He has appeared before every level of court in Ontario and several other Canadian provinces, as well as regulatory boards and public inquiries, including the securities commissions in Ontario, Alberta, and Quebec. Friedland also handles international and domestic arbitrations and often turns to mediation to resolve disputes outside the courtroom. His corporate and securities work spans sectors such as hospitality, mining, technology, real estate, gaming, and entertainment. He has helped more than fifty clients obtain court approval for corporate arrangement transactions and has worked on oppression remedy and proxy contest matters. In his municipal practice, he represents developers and landowners in disputes involving Ontario's building and heritage legislation.
