Indigenous LawTom Christensen began his legal career in Vernon in 1996 and took a leave from practice between 2001 and 2009 to serve as MLA for Vernon-Monashee, holding several cabinet portfolios including Minister of Education. He returned to Nixon Wenger in 2014 with a general solicitor's practice covering business matters, wills and incapacity planning, estate administration, and real estate conveyancing and financing, with a particular interest in intergenerational succession planning and resolving estate disputes outside of court. Christensen maintains a strong interest in Indigenous law matters and was a lead negotiator in the renegotiation of the BC Tripartite Education Agreement. He earned his B.A. in 1990 and Bachelor of Laws in 1994, both from the University of Victoria, and was called to the British Columbia Bar in 1995.
