Thomas Kurys is an intellectual property litigator as well as a registered trademark and patent agent at Wilson Lue. He manages trademark portfolios for clients ranging from individuals to large companies, identifying gaps in coverage, clearing new brands, and flagging risks posed by competitors, and he helps enforce and defend IP rights both in and out of court. Tom has appeared before the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, the Federal Court, the Federal Court of Appeal, the Trademarks Opposition Board, and the Competition Tribunal, including a patent infringement case involving truck axle monitoring systems and a successful infringement action for Dow Chemical relating to polyethylene compositions. He sits on the International Trademark Association's Trademark Office Practices Committee and the Intellectual Property Institute of Canada's Trademark Agent Training Committee. Tom holds a JD from Osgoode Hall Law School and a first-class honours BSc in Engineering Chemistry from Queen's University, and he is a registered patent agent in both Canada and the United States.
