About Tara

Tara is the 'M' in MDW Law and joined the firm as a partner in 2015, leading its personal injury and insurance litigation practice group. She received her King's Counsel designation in 2019 and was named 'Lawyer of the Year' for Personal Injury Litigation in Nova Scotia in the 2024 edition of Best Lawyers in Canada. She began her career in civil litigation at a large Atlantic regional firm before practising insurance defence litigation in-house for a national insurance company, and now uses more than 25 years of experience to help clients injured in motor vehicle and other accidents pursue fair settlements. She completed Harvard Law School's Program on Negotiation, 'Mediating Disputes', and has represented clients in more than 150 mediations. Tara represented Personal Representatives of deceased family members in the Desmond Fatality Inquiry from 2020 to 2022 and acted for family members of victims in the Mass Casualty Commission from 2021 to 2022. She is a board member of the NSLC and Special Olympics Nova Scotia, and co-chairs the CBA Nova Scotia ADR section.
