About Angela
Angela is a family law practitioner whose expertise spans complex financial matters and asset division, business asset analysis, income determination for business owners, international divorce, adoption, child protection and custody. She is trained in collaborative family law and mediation. Called to the bar in 2002 after completing her law degree at the University of British Columbia, she practised commercial litigation in Vancouver before returning to her native Nova Scotia, where she worked with ACOA and the Advisory Council on the Status of Women before building a family law practice. She joined Mary Jane McGinty and Christine Doucet in 2012, becoming a partner and helping found MDW Law. She sat as an Adjudicator for the NS Small Claims Court for ten years and is a mentor with the Lawyers Insurance Association of Nova Scotia. She is developing Inicio Justice Initiative, a not-for-profit advancing legal skills education for refugees from Myanmar, and taught a related workshop in Thailand in 2024.
