Class ActionsStephen Moreau is a partner at Cavalluzzo and co-chairs the firm's civil group, with responsibility for employment law, civil litigation, and class actions. He is bilingual and serves clients in French and English. Stephen represents unions, employees, and administrative agencies in litigation before courts, arbitrators, and tribunals, acting for workers in financial services, health, technology, and entertainment, as well as professionals such as nurses, lawyers, and police officers. He has appeared in courts across several provinces and at the Supreme Court of Canada, and has led significant class actions against government bodies and a major bank. His pro bono work on employment insurance benefits led to a novel class action over EI sickness benefits for parents on leave, and in 2012 he testified before a Parliamentary and Senate committee on EI reform. In 2025 he received the Ontario Bar Association's Randall Echlin Award for Excellence in Labour and Employment Law. He earned his LL.B. at the University of Manitoba, winning the University Gold Medal.
