About Sohaib

Sohaib built a sole practice around cryptocurrency and blockchain in 2022 after a brief stint as a pharmaceutical patent litigator, and the practice now sits at the intersection of blockchain technology and finance. Sohaib was the first lawyer in Canada to serve a defendant through a non-fungible token airdrop and has written the first legal book focused on NFTs, alongside regular contributions to LexisNexis Practice Notes on blockchain and smart contracts. Sohaib advises technology start-ups on decentralized autonomous organizations, intellectual property matters, and compliance issues tied to token launches and whitepapers. Called to the Ontario bar in 2020, Sohaib earned a J.D. from Dalhousie University in 2019, an MSc from the University of Alberta, and a BSc from the University of Toronto.
