About Shel

Shel Laven is a Calgary native who received his law degree from the University of British Columbia in 1982 and was admitted to the Alberta Bar in 1983. His practice focuses on wills and estates. He is a past chair of the South Alberta Canadian Bar Association's Wills & Trusts practice section and a member of the Calgary chapter of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP), and he was a founding member of the Alberta Society of Collaborative Estate and Trusts Lawyers (SCETYL). He speaks regularly at continuing legal education seminars and taught for many years at the Alberta Law Society Bar Admission Course.
