About Shawnee
Shawnee Matinnia joined Arkin Furrow Estate Law as an associate in 2026 after building experience in trust and estate litigation at another firm, where she represented clients in disputes over wills, powers of attorney, trusts, and capacity. She takes a clear, practical approach to high-conflict estate disputes, focusing on cutting through complexity and helping clients make informed decisions during difficult times. Earlier in her career she worked on a range of civil litigation matters, including product liability, insurance defence, professional negligence, commercial litigation, and class actions, and represented the province in complex civil proceedings. Shawnee earned her law degree from the University of Windsor's Faculty of Law in 2020, where she was involved in legal aid clinics and served as a teaching assistant and Career Services advisor. She previously earned an Honours B.A. from McMaster University and was called to the Bar of Ontario in 2021.
