About Ryan
Ryan Thomas Ashmead is a civil litigator at Ashmead Law in Victoria practising commercial, real estate, environmental, and employment litigation and arbitration. He was lead counsel in one of the longest commercial trials in Victoria's history, Ralmax Properties Ltd. v. Pt. Ellice Properties Ltd., and successfully argued two related appeals evicting a commercial tenant in Illingworth v. Evergreen Medicinal Supply Inc. Ryan has also advised on consumer-protection regimes, negotiated multi-party municipal and First Nation development agreements, and obtained substantial settlements in personal injury and severance cases. He earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Toronto in 2005 and a Bachelor of Science with a major in economics from the University of Victoria in 2002, and was called to the bar in 2007. Before founding his own practice, Ryan articled at McCarthy Tétrault in Vancouver and worked as a securities associate.
