About Ryan

Ryan joined Neuman Thompson in June 2016 with prior experience in labour and employment law at a national Edmonton firm, and practices in all areas of the field, including contracts, restrictive covenants, certification and decertification applications, collective agreements, unfair labour practices, successor and common employer applications, policies, human rights, workplace safety, privacy and wrongful dismissals. He has conducted dozens of workplace investigations, holds an advanced certificate in workplace investigations from Osgoode Hall Law School, and is trained as a trauma-informed investigator. Ryan has made submissions at the Federal Court, the Federal Court of Appeal and all levels of court in Alberta, as well as before many administrative tribunals, and has taught labour law at the University of Alberta Faculty of Law. He holds a JD from the University of Alberta and a BA (Hons) from Western University, and was called to the Alberta Bar in 2013. Ryan has been recognized as a leading lawyer for labour and employment law by Best Lawyers in Canada, and has volunteered as duty counsel for Legal Aid Alberta and with Student Legal Services and Pro Bono Law Alberta's Court Assistance Program.
