About Robert
Robert Nicolay was born and raised in Carlyle, Saskatchewan, and practiced at two large Saskatchewan firms in Regina and Saskatoon before being appointed Chief of Staff to Saskatchewan's Minister of Corrections, Public Safety and Policing in November 2007. He returned to private practice and joined the firm in March 2012. He has served on SaskPower's Board of Directors since November 2018, chairing its Governance and Human Resources Committee from 2022 and becoming Board Chair in July 2025, and he received his ICD.D designation from the Institute of Corporate Directors in November 2020. His practice focuses on oil and gas, corporate and commercial transactions, corporate law and governance, residential and commercial real estate, and wills and estates. He was appointed King's Counsel in 2022 and is active in organizations including the Canadian Bar Association, the Southeast Bar Association, and Rotary International's Estevan chapter.
