About Robert Mullin

Condominiums sit at the centre of Robert Mullin's practice in SV Law's Guelph office. Condo boards, property management companies and developers from across Ontario all turn to Mullin. For a condominium corporation, the work runs from drafting standard unit by-laws and indemnity agreements to amending its declaration, by-laws and rules, and then enforcing them through liens, power of sale, mediation, arbitration or compliance orders. Developers get help bringing a new condominium into being, from the purchase agreements to the declaration, management agreements and disclosure statement.

Mullin also writes for the people who run condos. University of Toronto Press published Condominium Law in Ontario: A Contemporary Guide in 2026, and a second title, The Annotated Condominium Act of Ontario, is in the works with LexisNexis Canada for late 2027. Property managers have read Mullin's features in the Association of Condominium Managers of Ontario's CM Magazine, and future managers have learned condo law from Mullin at Conestoga College.

Political studies came first, with an honours BA from the University of Guelph in 1995 and graduate work at Western. Mullin then earned an LL.B. at the University of Windsor in 2002, articled at a Toronto firm and came back to Guelph after being called to the bar in 2003. An LL.M. in municipal law from Osgoode Hall followed in 2010. Municipal and planning work is still part of the practice, and Mullin's representative matters include Ontario Municipal Board files involving Guelph, Centre Wellington and Wellington County.

The Canadian Condominium Institute has been a constant. Its Golden Horseshoe Chapter elected Mullin president in 2009, and Mullin served as a founding director when the Grand River Chapter started up. Mullin holds the institute's A.C.C.I. designation, too. Local lawyers have noticed: in 2026 the Wellington Law Association gave Mullin its first Distinguished Practitioner Award, with the choice made by peers. Outside the law, Mullin's a past president of the Guelph Provincial P.C. riding association and a volunteer with Ontario Corps.
