About Robert
Robert Hartshorne brings substantial litigation experience across multiple practice areas, including introducing the first claim for Social Host Liability in legal proceedings in British Columbia and establishing the province's inaugural Conspiracy to Defraud civil action for staged motor vehicle accidents. He has set precedents in insurance coverage matters and lectured extensively on continuing legal education topics including jury trials and scientific evidence admissibility. His practice covers personal injury, complex liability insurance, property damage, estate litigation, employment law, and products liability, and he has been a partner at Hartshorne & Mehl since 1974. He holds an LL.B. from the University of British Columbia (1971) and a B.A. in Economics and Math from the same university (1968), and was called to the bar in 1972. He is a founding member of the BC Insurance Defence Organization and a member of the Canadian Bar Association, the Vancouver Bar Association, the Trial Lawyers Association, and the BC Coalition of Motorcyclists.
