Robert co-founded Harris & Brun in 1984 with Lyle G. Harris and has practiced primarily in civil litigation and administrative law, with a focus on insurance litigation and workers' compensation law. He was appointed Queen's Counsel in 2004 and became King's Counsel in 2022. He has conducted numerous trials and appeals, including arguments before the Supreme Court of Canada, and is recognized for his opinions on lawyers' standard of care in malpractice cases. Robert served as National President of the Canadian Bar Association from 2012 to 2013 and completed three terms as a Bencher of the Law Society of British Columbia from 2005 to 2011. He also served as president of the Canadian Bar Association's BC Branch from 2003 to 2004 and has presented internationally on legal governance topics in Africa and Southeast Asia.
