About Richard
Richard Sommers joined the Ontario Bar in 1968 and was named Queen's Counsel in 1980. His practice has long centered on civil litigation, particularly medical malpractice claims. He has concentrated on cases involving infants who suffered brain or physical injury at birth because of medical or nursing negligence, and he has acted as counsel in several significant cases of that kind. He has lectured on trial practice at Osgoode Hall Law School and at continuing legal education programs for the Law Society of Ontario, the Canadian Bar Association, and other organizations. He belongs to the Advocates' Society, the Canadian Bar Association, the Law Society of Ontario, the American Association for Justice, and the Medical-Legal Society.
