About Rachel

Rachel Smylie is an associate in the Family Law Practice Group at SV Law. She completed an undergraduate degree in International Development Studies at Trent University before earning her J.D., with a minor in Indigenous Legal Orders, at the University of Windsor Faculty of Law. While at Windsor, she took part in the Kawaskimhon Aboriginal Law Moot and held teaching and research assistant roles tied to property law and Indigenous Legal Orders. She also chaired Orientation Week for the Students' Law Society. Rachel's practice covers marital and common-law separation, contested and uncontested divorce, property division, child and spousal support, custody and parenting time, and Indigenous child welfare matters. She was called to the Ontario bar in 2024 and serves as a board member of Compass Community Services.
