About Priyan
Priyan Samarakoone is a barrister and solicitor and the founder of EQ Law in British Columbia, focused on dispute resolution, civil litigation, and unbundled legal services for self-represented litigants. He spent his first seven years in practice representing clients at all levels of court and before multiple tribunals for Access Pro Bono BC, developing expertise in housing-related matters. He completed a Bachelor of Science in Biology at the University of British Columbia in 2006 and an honours LLB at Nottingham Law School in the UK in 2008, and was called to the British Columbia bar in 2013. He has worked on projects for the United Nations, including a child nutrition surveillance project in conflict-affected northern Sri Lanka and a baseline access to justice study. In 2018 he helped launch a pro bono family mediation program in Vancouver and continues to provide pro bono assistance to British Columbians in need.
