About Pierre Champagne

Pierre Champagne is a partner in Gowling WLG's Ottawa office, where the work is civil and commercial litigation, carried out in French or English. Courtroom experience runs from the Ontario Superior Court of Justice up to the Court of Appeal for Ontario, and it extends to the Federal Court of Canada and a range of administrative tribunals. Injunctions have been part of that mix too.

Clients have come from both sides of the public and private divide. School boards, municipalities, banks and insurance companies are among them, along with a wide range of professionals and business owners.

Champagne's been a member of the Ontario bar since 1995. Before Gowling, the litigator served as associate director of Heenan Blaikie's Ottawa office, then joined what was then Gowling Lafleur Henderson LLP as a partner in Ottawa, moving over as part of a team of bilingual commercial litigators. Best Lawyers has recognized Champagne for Corporate and Commercial Litigation since 2024.

Teaching has run alongside the practice since 1994 at the University of Ottawa. From 1994 to 2002, Champagne taught law to future engineers in the Faculty of Engineering, and later took on civil procedure at the Faculty of Law, a part-time professorship held on secondment from Gowling. The professor holds two degrees from the same university, an engineering degree and an LLB, both magna cum laude. Away from court, Champagne serves as director and treasurer of Le Théâtre du Trillium in Ottawa.
