About Nivala
Nivala Persad-Maharaj practises family law and wills and estates at SV Law's Guelph office. She helps clients with marriage, separation, divorce, and parenting and property disputes, and in her estates practice she advises on matters such as guardianships, advance healthcare directives, wills and powers of attorney, and the administration of estates and trusts. Nivala takes a thoughtful, strategic approach in both areas, working closely with clients to protect their interests and their families' well-being. She belongs to the Waterloo Law Association and the Wellington Law Association and sits on the board of FRIENDS of Waterloo Region Museums. Nivala was called to the bar in 2023 and holds an Honours B.A. from the University of Guelph, an LL.B. from the University of Sussex and an LL.M. from the University of Toronto.
