About Nicole P. Hobbs

Estate planning and administration are at the centre of Nicole P. Hobbs's growing practice at Bennett Grant LLP. Nicole likes to work side by side with each client on a plan, then prepare the wills and powers of attorney that suit their situation. Real estate and corporate advice round out the work, and Nicole takes particular satisfaction in helping farmers and others whose livelihoods are in agriculture.

Bennett Grant is where Nicole articled, and it's the firm Nicole came back to after joining the Ontario bar in June 2024. Today Nicole is an associate in the group that covers wills and estates, corporate-commercial work and real estate. Before law, Nicole earned an undergraduate degree at Wilfrid Laurier University, then went on to Western University's law faculty.

Family and children's issues ran through Nicole's time at Western. Nicole did research for the family law faculty, worked for the Office of the Children's Lawyer, and researched and wrote for the Centre for Research & Education on Violence Against Women & Children, where the work on new Canadian case law was published. Over three years as a caseworker at the faculty's Community Legal Services Clinic, Nicole gave London residents free help with family and child protection matters. A paper by Nicole taking a critical look at Ontario's parental determination laws appeared in the Canadian Family Law Quarterly in 2024, and Nicole also placed at the Walsh Family Law Negotiation Competition.

Nicole grew up in Wellesley and now lives in Wilmot Township, so the Region of Waterloo is very much home. Since joining the Child Witness Centre's board in 2023, Nicole has become its vice-chair and leads the governance committee. At home there's also a Dalmatian.
