About Nicholas
Nicholas Pope practices primarily in federal administrative law, reviewing decisions, actions, and inaction by the federal government, including Cabinet ministers and administrative tribunals such as human rights tribunals and parole boards. He works to ensure these bodies exercise their powers reasonably and in compliance with the Charter, and turns to the courts when a government decision is unreasonably delayed or refused. Before joining Hameed Law, he worked at several non-profit organizations, advocating against international law violations at the Civic Coalition for Palestinian Rights in Jerusalem, coordinating a refugee sponsorship program for MCC Alberta in Calgary, and supporting imprisoned journalists and human rights defenders at Freedom Now in Washington, DC. He has also developed legal automation software, including LegalCite and the Federal Court E-Filing Assistant, to make his law practice more efficient. Pope was called to the Ontario Bar in 2019 and holds a JD from the University of Calgary (2015).
