About Mike

Mike Cook was born and raised in Winnipeg. He earned a degree in Criminology from the University of Winnipeg in 1980, a law degree from the University of Manitoba in 1983, and was called to the Manitoba bar in 1984. After five years in general practice, he shifted his focus to criminal defence and has appeared regularly at all levels of court in Winnipeg, up to the Supreme Court of Canada. He has represented clients on charges ranging from theft to first-degree murder, including several high-profile cases, and travels weekly to rural courts across Manitoba. He has lectured at the University of Winnipeg, the Winnipeg Police Service, the Law Society of Manitoba, and various schools. He is President of the Manitoba Criminal Justice Association and past president of the City of Winnipeg Library Board and the University of Winnipeg Alumni Association.
