About Michelle
Michelle Kinney is a family and fertility lawyer based in Victoria, BC, licensed to practice in British Columbia and Nunavut. Michelle received a law degree from the University of Victoria in 2006, was called to the BC Bar in 2007, and was called to the Nunavut Bar in 2020. As one of the architects of BC's Family Law Act, Michelle spent about seven years with the BC government on the family law reform that produced the Act, work for which Michelle's team received the Attorney General's Exemplary Service Team Award. Michelle later practised roughly six years at the Victoria firm Cassels Murray before founding this practice, is an accredited family law mediator and arbitrator, a founding member of Fertility Law BC, and has taught family law at the University of Victoria and University of British Columbia law schools. Michelle also worked for about 1.5 years as legal counsel in the Government of Nunavut's Department of Justice.
