Michael T. Mulligan is a lawyer at Mulligan Defence Lawyers practising criminal, civil, and administrative law at all levels of British Columbia's courts, with a particular specialization in computer forensics and criminal defence. He graduated from the University of Victoria Law School in 1997 and was called to the bar in 1998, having articled at the Department of Justice's Vancouver office from 1997 to 1998 in drug prosecutions, tax law, Aboriginal law, and civil litigation. He belongs to the Law Society of British Columbia, the Canadian Bar Association, and the Victoria Bar Association, chaired the Victoria Criminal Justice Section from 2001 to 2004, served as an executive member of the CBA's BC Branch from 2004 to 2005, and has been a member of the International Society for the Reform of Criminal Law since 1999. He received the Victoria Bar Association's Contribution to the Law Award and the Canadian Bar Association's SOGIC Ally Award in 2015, and the Pamela Murray Award in 2011 for professional standards and contributions to the local bar. He has been a guest lecturer at the University of Victoria Law School in criminal law, ethics, evidence, and advocacy over multiple years between 2000 and 2017, serves as a practice judge for law school moots, and speaks to police departments and legal organizations on computer forensics, sentencing, and search warrants. He was also a weekly guest on CFAX 1070's 'Legally Speaking' program in 2015.
