Michael J. O'Shaughnessy is a Brockville criminal defence lawyer who has practised in Ontario courts since 1977, appearing before the Ontario Court of Justice, the Superior Court of Justice and the Ontario Court of Appeal. He has conducted trials involving murder and manslaughter, property offences, drug offences, firearms offences, customs offences, youth offences, impaired driving, assaults and sexual offences. A lifelong resident of Brockville, he earned a Bachelor of Arts from McMaster University in 1972 and a Bachelor of Laws from Queen's University in 1975, and was called to the Bar of the Supreme Court of Ontario in 1977 after articling with Toronto criminal lawyer Michael Wadsworth. He is a past president of the Leeds and Grenville Law Association, a founding member and current president of the Rideau St. Lawrence Ontario Criminal Lawyers Association, a founding member of the Leeds and Grenville Collaborative Family Law Association, and a director of the Lanark, Leeds and Grenville Addictions and Canadian Mental Health Association. He played football at McMaster University and Queen's University, earning All-Canadian Defensive End honours in 1971.
