Marchen has represented clients on a wide variety of private and public matters before every level of court in Alberta, the superior and appellate courts of British Columbia and Saskatchewan, and the Federal Courts. He draws on earlier experience as an engineer and project manager to conduct complex criminal and civil litigation, and his practice has evolved to focus on constitutional and appellate law. His professional and academic interests include constitutional history, treaties between the Crown and Indigenous Peoples, and the doctrine of judicial notice, estoppel, and justiciability.
