About Megan

Megan Schwartzentruber joined Cooper, Sandler, Shime & Schwartzentruber as an articling student in 2009, became an associate in 2010, and made partner in 2019. She has represented clients at every level of court, including the Court of Appeal and Canada's highest court, on charges ranging from murder and fraud to sexual assault and impaired driving. She regularly represents clients with mental health issues and young people, and sits on the Legal Aid Ontario Gladue Panel representing Indigenous clients. In 2018 she acted as counsel to the College of Nurses of Ontario at a public inquiry into long-term care home safety, and she has also assisted with the independent civilian review into missing persons investigations in Toronto. Megan has been an Adjunct Professor at the University of Toronto Faculty of Law and co-coached its mooting team for several years. She holds a JD from Osgoode Hall Law School and a BA with honours from the University of Western Ontario, and was called to the Ontario bar in 2010.
