About Mark

Mark J. Sandler is a founding partner whose practice centers on appellate and trial criminal and regulatory litigation. He earned his LL.B. from the University of Toronto in 1978, was called to the bar in 1980, and is certified by the Law Society as a Specialist in Criminal Law. He completed three terms as a Bencher of the Law Society of Ontario, serving as Chair of the Appeals Panel and later Vice-Chair of the Appeal Division. Mark has acted as counsel or senior advisor on more than twenty public inquiries and systemic reviews, including the Goudge Inquiry into pediatric forensic pathology, the Kaufman Inquiry into the Guy Paul Morin case, and the federal review of the Stephen Truscott case. He also led an independent review of missing persons investigations in Toronto on behalf of the Honourable Gloria Epstein and chaired a committee examining conduct at St. Michael's College School. From 1992 to 2005 he taught as an Adjunct Professor at Osgoode Hall Law School, and he co-authored a text on criminal procedure with Justice F. Weinper.
