About Matthew
Matthew Van Nostrand has been a litigation lawyer with Murphy Battista LLP since 2015. Before joining the firm he worked at one of Vancouver's top defence firms, defending businesses, hospitals, dentists, chiropractors and other lawyers, experience that now helps him represent clients in motor vehicle accidents, medical malpractice claims, occupier liability claims, class action lawsuits, and claims against insurers for wrongfully terminating benefits or denying coverage. Matthew earned his JD from the Peter A. Allard School of Law at UBC in 2009 and a B.Comm with distinction from the University of Victoria in 2001, and was called to the British Columbia bar in 2010 and the Yukon bar in 2025. He has contributed to the Continuing Legal Education Society of BC's Annual Review of Law & Practice and co-authored the costs section of the British Columbia Civil Trial Handbook.
